Yes, to sustain the development I've decided to go commercial with Houdini 2.
Note that Houdini 1.5a remains available as a free download.

Congratulations Robert.

I'm glad you included contempt 0 for truthful analysis with EGTBs like I requested =).

Quick question.. have you tried positional learning in an engine/engine match against itself? I noticed the threshold is based on eval alone with no relation to depth. ie. a short 12 ply search is worth the same as a 22 ply search?

Cheers,
Steve.

Steve,

I've never tried the learning feature in an engine match, I'm not sure whether it would really be useful. An interesting test :).
The threshold is indeed depth-independent. If at a later stage the same position is analyzed with a greater search depth, the learning evaluation will be overwritten by the newer, more accurate result.

I wonder if this will lead to legal complications.

Hi Robert,
I have posted the Tactical Results of Houdini 2.0 on the Rybka Forum. I can't embed my document on this forum but the conclusion is your program shows a nice improvement, well done.

Why? You suspect Robert used code from Robbolito and Stockfish, so he has to open the sources?
