It clearly is a depiction of Earth's Sandworm, or King Ragworm. With colors! Their giant brethren live on Dune, but they have no color according to the original books, just grey or usually pictured as sand colored. Ours do have colors under light. I did not know that, I've never seen anything like this before! The sandworms of Dune are larger though and are worshipped by the Fremen. Alexander Semenov has some beautiful pictures on Flickr of these and other sea creatures.

and when I click on any...nothing appears, they do not seem to have links to any image.
