Good timing I guess..I actually wanted to wait a few more days to release it, until the Houdini excitement faded a bit,
but someone found and shared an archive of test compiles I had temporarily placed up on chesslogik, LOL, so I had no choice but to go now.

Sorry no Haswell compile...
and it's Windows only.

Many thanks for the new engine Norman. Can you tell us the estimated elo gain, what improvements you made etc ? :) :) :D

I hate guessing Elo gains Damir...all my testing was done at superfast TCs, and it's difficult to know how that will play out at longer TCs.

It will say it's fairly modest compared to what we've been seeing in recent times

Thx alot for your support of the chesscommunity with a strong and free engine.

But why you didn´t support the uci command "show current move"?

This feature is very helpfull in the analyzemode for a strong chessplayer.

Hi Thomas,

I've thought about that (and seldepth) many times with past releases, etc.
Sorry...just have not yet gotten around to it.

It guess it would also surprise me if people were using something other than SF, Komodo, and Houdini for serious analysis.

Thx for your fast reply.

It´s a good feeling that this point is on the to do list.

This is very nice because Fire 6 understands something about chess.

Thanks, Norman.

I'll test Fire under Windows as soon as possible (it doesn't seem to work under Wine, unfortunately). And a great thank you for your continuous efforts to give us a fully featured, quality free engine in the last few years.
