Incredible. Looks like a Morphy game from 1858! If this was just the raw Rodent (no personality) its even more impressive playing in this style.
Check my site for engine reviews and other chess stuff :)

How long to avoid Nxa1? or give it it a losing eval.

Hi Günther,

now I am not at home for an analyze in detail.

For your information:
Last opening book move: Black move 12. ... Nxb3.
(Have the complete files from my FCP Rating List on my HTC M8 smartphone).

First calculation from Rodent:
13. Nxf6 -0.19 (after 21 seconds)

First calculation from Gaviota:
13. ... Ke7 -0.43 (after 18 seconds)

A wonderful game!!
Have fun with it.

Best
Frank

PS:
What do you think ... a bad opening line (I don't think so).

Hi Brendan,

Rodent is one of my favorits (Hakkapelitta, EXchess, Rodent, Spark, Junior, often ICE, Andscacs, Fire, Texel and of course SF and Komodo).
I like engines can fast win a game.

End of April 2016 new stats will be availabe on my site.
You can see later that Rodent is after the opening book moves very strong with very nice ideas.

Yes, this was really a great game!
Elo isn't important, more or less the style of an engine is much more important. At the moment -7.33 to the preview version in the still running test-run. Again, Elo alone is for me not important. I hope the programmer of Rodent isn't disappointed. Much more important is that the programmer of Rodent is on the right way to create a very nice engine.

Means, the programmer of Rodent is indeed on the right way (from my view).

Best
Frank

PS: Yes with standard settings. Not possible to test engines with other settings. At the moment I have to many work with my FCP Rating List. Have a look in my Agenda site ... a lot of missed parings are to play. I need a clear database (each of vs. each one for better statistics). But later maybe I can test an other style of Rodent ... not in the next months.

Hi Günther,

after my information you are working on an opening book for Shredder Classic GUI too. Do you have this opening line in your book?

I think ... if you like ... we should switch information about our opening books.

I wish me a person you are as partner for my work. Maybe you have interest and we can work together. Maybe you have interest on my rating list and we can build a team. I am very open for new ideas. I search strong partners for my work around start of Mai 2016. I am sure we found a way ...

I can send my passwords from my provider. Means if people have interest to support me in testing engine, each of such persons can added one information on my webpage. To work alone here is very boring for myself. I have to changed that or I losed my interest ... I need here more chess friends which have interest to support my work.

I have interest to build a "new" test group, like CEGT or CCRL ...
End of April 2016 I have with my FCP database a basic database for it. If people have interest to support my work we can build a new test-group. Please contact me with my contact form.

I wish me people with a lot of knowledge about engines you have (for an example).

Best
Frank

PS: I think my ideas are perhaps boring for the others. I am sure that I have a great start Point I am working now around 2 1/2 years. Around 200.000 games I have with the same conditions. Furthermore, I think this would be great for the group of programmers too.

Again, I am very often, also in switching in parts my conditions! Of course, not all of my conditions or my work goes in the trash can.

Hi there,

sorry, not the topic for such a thread to the great playing style Rodent have.

Means, I must not be the admin for a new test group. I have more or less interest to be member of a group only. Again, I am very open for each of new ideas and building a new test-group.

Of course if I don't find new partners ... my Rating List will be not stopped. But it's very easy ... I willl not work alone here and I hope of people around the World which have intetest to support such a work for the next years.

Best
Frank

PS: Start of Mai 2016 ...
My systems have to play the missing parings undo end of April 2016. After this one I hope of partners and we can start with great basics.

You mean give it a negative eval. The losing move was Kd6, moving into mate.
The position is tricky and difficult, a tactical trap. I wouldn't draw many conclusions based on this. Bad luck for G, not a big deal though.
Many engines would fall for the trap.
I wonder how much time G spent on Kd6.

For me it looks Nxa1? is already losing! Ke6 could have saved the game.
I find the position interesting (some books even don't know Ng4!) which has nothing to do with Gaviota or the actual game itself.

Edit:
I guess you mean the only alternative Be4 instead of Kd6 which allows mate?
Acoording to my analysis this is lost (not mated though).
e.g. 15...Be4 16. Nxe4+ Ke6 17. Ng3+ Kd5 18. Rc1 and White has simply
too much material in the long run, when 14... Ke6 seems to be just slightly worse for Black.
