Not very Known and Yet Very Good engine: Queen Chess

Post by fern » Fri Oct 31, 2014 3:48 pm

Many engines has had a life of reclusion and almost spectral existence for the most diverse reasons. Some are not strong enough, some are definetively bad, some just does not get attention because they never showed in the correct sites., etc.
Some time some of them are revealed by our Pal from romania here, but many other never get it.
One of those is Queen Chess for Windowes and its android incarnation aPP, as Senior Chess.
It is the fruit of an old programer, a dutch called Ammerald. It has his own GUi and it is pretty strong. What is more, it h s a very intertesting and curious feature: if you are connected to internet, the program will quietly get acces to a huge ending database to guide his game.
Give it a try...

If both tell their best joke then we can decide who's the winner.

Hello Adam, Fern,

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I used to beta test this engine.

Leen is a brilliant programmer who was way too humble about his skills.

He is a gentleman...

Later.

Hello All,

These responses would probably make more sense if the personal attack posts trading cheap shots were still here, but I just removed them.

Please do your part in keeping the board readable...

Later.
