CCT-16: Arasan-Crafty game

Post by jdart »

I have put up some annotations of this game here:

http://arasanchess.org/games.shtml (go to the end of the list). It was quite interesting to watch. It looked like a draw but then moves 100-109 were critical and I think Arasan missed a win there.

Crafty was getting up to 36M nodes/second in the endgame. Arasan was on a dual Opteron and getting maybe 7-12M but still on some positions it was searching well over a trillion nodes.

Quite interesting game with around 200 moves.

I'll annotate this deeply on the next issue of Antalya Chess Express.

Here's some analysis done last Sunday, Stockfish but only about move 108. I ran Stockfish first in single PV and then switched to two best moves, so the times don't say very much:

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Interesting discovery. It does look like 108. Nf3 is best, and good for a sizable advantage.
