Best regards, Reinhard Scharnagl.
THANK YOU a lot for this your novative chess engine & GUI ! Tested a bit the version BC-178e. Now are in test all Smirf engines I have.
A real delight to work with original engines !
This new w32 Smirf works very well like WB engine via Smirfoglot under Winboard and Arena GUIs and like UCI engine (via Smirfoglot+Wb2Uci) in Fritz and Shredder GUIs !
The GUI is also GREAT !
An yesterday post:

THANK YOU again !

Re: A real delight !
Thank you for giving some time to the SMIRF-32 GUI + engine. SMIRF is still
my first written playing multi chess environment. Thus it is naturally weak.
So it does not make sense to start a serious improving of this old approach.
A completely new written successor would do, but there no longer seems to
be an interest in its potential internas. The world is admiring to top clones.
So I am happy for SMIRF hopefully to be presented now as a stable version.
I have no idea, whether its playing strength (never be intended to play Blitz)
might be over 2000 Elo at all.

be an interest in its potential internas. 1.-The world is admiring to top clones.

1.- That's right. But not everybody likes the current top 20 ! I like engines like Smirf, iCE, Octochess, Scorpio, DiscoChek, Gaviota, EXchess..........coming with nice ideas. For me Houdini & co are just variations on the same theme !
2.-For instant a single information: in blitz 4'+2" Smirf CE-178e plays over Lime 66 (2149 ELO on CCRL 4/40). And plays a nice chess.
