Congrats to Jon. He has been working on his engine since ever, without noise and hoopla and certainly Arasan is very strong.

By the way, the version of Arasan that played in last year's WCRCC (placing 6th) was 14.3. Version 16.0 (the latest development version) scores 75% against 14.3 in my testing (over 4800 games). So that is a big change in one year.

I had to remind myself that 14.3 was only one year ago. It didn't seem to me like Arasan was making rapid progress, maybe because it happened gradually. But a year is a long time and I'm retired now, so I've had time to work on it.

I had considered entering Symbolic, but it hasn't seen any significant work in several years and it's re-write won't be finished for some time.
