It's an interesting idea. However, beta cutoffs are generally quite efficient due to null move (which the author acknowledges). So I wouldn't expect a great reduction in tree size and hence little improvement to strength even if it works.

But interesting none-the-less,

Interesting paper, perhaps (re)posting on programmers subforum would be more appropriate, at least there would be a bigger chance people understands the topic :-)
