Frank, Robert doesn't infringe GPL, because the Robbo* Ippolit* code he's accused to have as the base for Houdini is not GPL but public domain:

A. Publicdomain (workers), only.

So, technically, this is a clone, yes, but not an illegal one, although most tourney managers will refuse to include yet another clone in their tournament, however strong it might be.

oh a misinformation by myself.
I read often that Fire and the predecessors are under GPL.

I remember Robert Houdart say thanks to Crafty, Stockfish, IPP people in a sentence on his own webpage. With others words he used Stockfish, Crafty and IPP ideas.

Crafty is not GPL.
Either way, the GPL deals with code, not with ideas. I have no idea why this distinction seems to be so hard for so many people, but they're very different.

How is the proof?

After the message by the Thinker programmer Houdini is 1:1 Ivanhoe.

I am sure that you added own ideas in Houdini and this ideas must be good but the basic of Houdini is one of the IvanHoe versions.

This is probably one of the funnier things I've read on here in a while.
