Komodo 3 and a minor bug

Post by Jouni » Fri Sep 02, 2011 3:08 pm

Old favorite = mate in 1:

[D]5K2/8/2qk4/2nPp3/3r4/6B1/B7/3R4 w - e6 0 1

Analysis by Komodo64 3:

1.Bxe5+ Kxe5 2.Re1+ Re4 3.Rxe4+ Nxe4 4.dxc6 Kd6 5.Bd5 Nf6 6.Bh1 Nd7+ 7.cxd7 Kxd7
= (-0.05) Depth: 22 00:00:09 11111kN

In testsuites Komodo is now really stunning - no weak point at all. Even tactics are very good :) BTW is SMP version commercial?

I am working on SMP version now. SMP will be commercial but not a single processor version.

We have well over 10 ELO of improvement since release so we plan to aggressively continue the improvements.

I must add. There has really been PROGRESS from Rexchess 2.1! It was first or second PC program I bought around 1991...

How is the MP project going? I am hoping that with MP Komodo 3 can show some nice improvement, more than should come from just MP scaling.

My first computer program was Chessmaster 2000 for the Apple ][e. My first PC program was Chess Genius 3.5 (IIRC) and Mchess Pro 3.12. If memory serves, I paid a package deal of $150 for both. The machine was a 386-16Mhz.

The MP Komodo is a reality now, but is not yet efficient. Hopefully that won't take too long. The only reason I know that we might benefit more than others from MP is that some tests indicate that Komodo's elo rises with longer time controls, so it should also rise a bit with more cores.
