OliThink 5.2.6 released introducing LMR

Post by OliverBr » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:37 am

Hello together,

OliThink has been noticeably improved by an successful implementation of a simple Late Move Reduction (LMR)

Downloadable here:

http://home.arcor.de/dreamlike/chess/index.html

PS: I would be thankful for an optimized x64 compile again.
PPS: It's not necessary to replay/replace any running tourneys (e.g. Thanks to Graham), let it play the next division )

No need to worry about me. The needs of the many easily outweigh the needs of one.
Thanks for the new release Oliver.
For those who've not tried OliThink, it has a nice playing style. You'll enjoy it.

Seconded... :D

Well written, few eval tricks, but very balanced.

I really like it.

Thanks for the compliments Graham.

Actually I am very proud of OliThink's playing style. It's a super effective anti-human style. The typical anti-computer tricks do not work with OliThink.

Version 5.x.x has not lost against any human yet. Version 5.2.x hasn't even been drawn against a human.

It just happened, that at ICC a very strong human player (rated > 2600) tried 12 games against OliThink. He was not even close to a draw.

PS: Another thing I am quite proud of: OliThink is the engine that is farest away from being a clone. There is not one single line of code even similar to any other engine, including OliThink 4. It's completely unique.
