Heavychess

Post by Mark Mason » Sun Aug 09, 2009 11:31 am

Hi,

I downloaded a free UCI engine some time ago called heavychess which is by Federico Andres Corigliano from Argentina:

http://chessnostalgia.com/HeavyChess.html

I have been running some games with heavychessalpha 0.13b and it plays an interest style. However there is no further information on the download site. I don't see it referenced anywhere in UCI Engines League, CEGT or ccrl. The only place I have seen it listed is here where it is given an elo rating of 1817:

http://www.grailmaster.com/misc/chess/c ... sorted.txt

I wondered if anyone had any information about this engine - its history, its strength, and whether any further planned releases. Also would any engine testers be willing to include in their engine matches so that we can judge the relative strength of it ?

EDIT: I got the download link from the chessnostalgia site looks like a useful reference source for engines and has many games to download in PGN:

http://chessnostalgia.com/

Thanks,

Mark

Hello Mark

Chispa is the main engine of Federico Corigliano. It seems HeavyChess was a stillborn project, kind of.

HeavyChess is playing in my ChessWar tournaments, please check my site for more :)

Hi Olivier,

Thanks for the reply. I will keep on eye on your site - looks interesting. Good to see that Heavychess is at least actively competing somewhere !

Regards,

Mark

Thanks Denis. I do actually already have the engine from:

http://chessnostalgia.com/HeavyChess.html

and have been using Heavychess 0.13b. It was really more information on the strength of the engine from any testing, that I was interested in.

Regards,

Mark
