Has anyone tried the new version yet? I see it is now available for Evaluation Download. If you have tried it, then please tell us what you think.

Its ok Ted. However Arena is still number 1 for me.

The main improvment is the speed for opening books building. It is very fast now.

Some words about Chess Partner 6.0:
1.Has an improved native engine :LCHESS 6.0 with an improved engine book ( near every Lokasoft engine has an engine book -different from the GUI book);
2.the GUI works under Vista;
3.the installation of the GUI is in the same manner like Fritz 11 or Shredder 11;
4.some improvements in design (more layouts.......);
5.some improvements in sound;
6.a very good opening book manager;
7.problems with ERT (Engine Research Tool )-you can play with all Lokasoft engines installed under Chess Partner 5.4 but the ERT doesn't work ( or maybe the engines must be moved in the new engine folder of CP6 )!
8.the installation doesn't overwrite Chess Partner 5.4;
9.update support;
10.native PGN read/write;
11.others.
Regards,
Silvian

Anything unique to it that the others do not have? Such as IDEA?

Re: Opinions of ChessPartner 6.0
I have it. I like it.
The top gains are:
1) The opening book manager is much better. It holds and displays
much more detail about each move. Also, you can color code moves
like you do in Chessbase products. Changing a move value is
easier than before. Making a good book is significantly easier.
2) The book creation tool is easily more than 100 times faster.
I used real ramdisks to gain speed with 5.4, but that is no
longer needed in 6.0
