Thanks Graham - an interesting tournament. Maverick didn't do as well as I had hoped. I thought it would come in the middle of the table. Maverick doesn't have any form of selectivity other than null move pruning. As a result I think the branching factor is probably high then engines of comparable strength with selective searches (e.g. using LMR). So I suspect at the slightly longer time controls it doesn't do as well.

It was fun logging in and watching some nail biting games!

Don't worry about a playoff, I have a stronger rhetoric coming soon. It must be much better at longer time controls like 40/40. Version 1.0 has still some "weakneses" (aka bugs ) on the endgames, so there's no need. I'm sure betsabe will win again.

A new version of Rhetoric will probably gain automatic qualification along with Betsabe.
There are two engines (IvanHoe and Frenzee) that are likely to be ineligible for my next series, so there are extra spaces available for other engines to promote to higher divisions.
