Do not be distressed. Tactics still rule!

You could not even engine test your way out of a paper bag. And your engine testing are as spot on as your conclusions.

So the data that stockfish has 2400 ELO on 6502 are highly overestimated.
But Dave Kittinger, Ed Schroeder did really a good job getting the most out of the 5 MHz 6502.

Sargon from 1978?? My recollection was that in 1978 the best chess computer one could buy ( excluding million dollar computers or the like) was no better than 1500 (probably much worse), and that was with 2 hours; at 5+5 should be like 1000 or worse. SF one ply shouldn't be that bad! What am I missing here? Chess computers one could buy weren't half-decent until early 1980s, unless my memory is quite wrong.mwyoung wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 10:55 pmYou could not even engine test your way out of a paper bag. Re: Stockfish bench in i486 & Pentium 75mhz !
Could be sargon 1978 is the sargon that was published as BOOK by the spracklens.
Wasn’t it done/written in assembler and published in a book before the spracklen did business with fidelity ?
Because in 1978 fidelity was still using ron Nelsons chess engine on 8088 or z80 While spracklen used 6502.
FIDELITY did Chess chess challenger 1-8 and Chess Challenger 10.
Then came chess challenger 9 with 6502 and spracklen program. That was 1982.
Before was Fidelity Voice Sensory Chess Challenger with z80 and ron nelson in 1980
and almost same case but now spracklen inside
Fidelity Champion Sensory Chess Challenger With 6502 and spracklen engine in 1981.

You are correct about 1200 Elo and more if you are confusing the USCF rating. But as you know 5 full width sucky plies, and better then 1 really smart ply. And at this level tactics rule.lkaufman wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 11:42 pmSargon from 1978?? You are missing that a retard is playing an engine called Sargon on 2950x CPU and has 50kN/s. As usual all his tests are outright fake.lkaufman wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 11:42 pmSargon from 1978??
