@Aleksei
both of you (with Scorpio) have been very generous with your resources, skills and moderation.
No complaints from me ..
Marco's problems were manifold not least of which he opted for quantity rather than quality and that his choice of autocratic and hypocritical moderators was not exactly conducive to maintaining a friendly environment. As Ovyron points out some members chose to leave - so did I .. rather than put up with that.
Admittedly my contributions there were more of a 'fun' type hardly serious but the members there (some anyway) enjoyed it.
Cant say I'd miss the Forum - you two for sure ..
Finally "got ya".
I just want to say that for me your contribution was the most significant (you know what I mean). I will never forget that!
As for everything else, everyone has their own concepts and principles. So it was and will be.
Ovyron wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 4:30 pmModeration is known to have disrespect for their users
Really? Why is that?
Several users and me have had their posts deleted for arbitrary reasons. I know someone else that quit MZ Chess for this reason. And since this happened within a short time frame after I joined, it's a thing that happens on a regular basis.
Even my post stating why I was quitting was deleted
Aleksei wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 7:00 pmWhere exactly you saw "Thanks" system etc? If you have any problems / disagreement then write about it on the forum right away.
No need to slander.
Situation 1:
-User shares some stuff as attachments on their post.
-A new user wants to download them, but the system in place doesn't allow them to see attachments until they make "10 meaningful posts."
Result: People can't see attachments, so sharers have to use third party hosts. If those hosts or links die, the person wanting to download is out of luck.
Situation 2:
-User does something nice.
-Another user thanks them for that in a post.
-A moderator appears and warns the second user about how they shouldn't be thanking in a post and should be using the thank button on posts.
Result: People that thank other people are being censored now?
Where's the slander? I don't know how good Sugar compares to other Stockfish branches, but Marco sure has a terrible moderator taste...
Man I feel identified with what you posted ..i got banned 2 times as well because of nonsense...

I read the word "injection" in the error logs... smells bad... Sounds like I was right about a possible SQL injection...
Like 'haters will hate'...complainers will complain. They did a decent job of keeping the jerks and spammers out of there...unlike say chessgod.com.
I never once had a problem, nor with the newer Immortalchess.com.
I would be willing to wager that the truth behind the demise of each might just be that some commercial entities got together and paid someone to engage in some cyber-espionage, tired of their products being 'given away'.
It is a pity of course if the forum is closed. Although I rarely visited him recently, I’m glad that I also made a small contribution to its development.
