Are the van Foreests the new Polgars?
Of course I did already know that Jorden van Foreest is a young improving GM, but until today I did not know
that his next younger brother Lucas also is GM.
On top of that their sister Machteld, currently still at age 11, became number 3 in the Dutch womenchampionship!
And they have three! further brothers playing chess too. (didn't check their strength)
Their parents also play chess and the great great grand father of the kids also was Dutch champion three times
and his brother too!

Don't know his birthday. They told me he was eight years old.Uri Blass wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2019 9:58 amYour opponent is 9 years old and not 8 years old

I remember playing once against a nine year old but this person (only) has rating 2200 while being sixteen years old now.
That game also ended in a draw.
Probably Machteld van Foreest is a serious candidate for getting World Champion. But looked like she hated the chess lessons she got from her coach.
I also remember she did not want to talk to us for our rating was too low. Mine only about 1700-1750.
[End of gossip] I already asked moderators to delete my posts in this thread but they did not.

Machteld is age 12 and is clearly weak relative to judit polgar at age 11.
Judit already had rating 2355 at age 11 and one year later 2555 if my memory is correct.
Machteld Van Foreest failed in the european girls chess championship and only got place 9 and going to go down in the rating list.

Can't make money with playing chess when you are older than 45. So you should earn as much money as possible when you are young.
Don't know about chlld labor. Fisher, Michael Jackson being bad examples.

Going down in the rating list after world junior championships or similar is normal if you have a well established rating as most people there are underrated.
A single tournament performance generally doesn't tell you much about a player anyways.
As for Tommy's age, I would listen to the child as FIDE got my age wrong for the longest time themselves. They claimed I was a year older than I actually am.
