Is this hard ?

Is this position hard for your engines ?

[d] 4B3/4kP2/8/6P1/6KP/8/8/5r2 w - - 1 67

Minic fails to find Kh5 and plays g6 instead, which leads to draw.

This is strange because Minic now has full KPK knowledge ...

Code: Select all

Tested Sapeli 1.19 ( dev version -> identical to 1.18 )

It finds Kh5 after 233,200,000 nodes and 56 seconds ( +6,17 ) later.
After 2,540,000,000 nodes and 9 minutes ( +11,16 ) still sticks to it. :P

Also, h5 is a mate in 18, so there are two winning moves.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

I have just found again a bug in my incremental material update... So kpk is trigger when it should not...

Not enough testing... In french: le bug est toujours entre la chaise et le clavier... :oops:

Si le débogage est le processus de suppression des bogues logiciels, la programmation doit être le processus de les mettre en.

Somehow Winter has one of the two correct moves for all depths, but Im not sure at what point Winter really understood it.

Does not seem very hard, without TB my engine thinks within a millisecond h4-h5 is the best move, however it does not find a win. h4-h5 is solely played on positional grounds, at least that is my guess.

With 6 piece TB enabled I expected to find a forced win, but somehow it does not. It probably means that on a short term there is no forced exchange to a won 6 piece TB position, so KPk won't help you either.
