Mate in 9, what could be simpler

Chest solves it quickly. Some engines have trouble.

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

The King (from CM9000) also finds Mate in 9 instantly. Even Myrddin finds it in under two seconds on my old hardware. Definitely shouldn't be a hard one even for mediocre engines.

woohoo! even embla finds it in less than 2 seconds! \o/
Something's odd with time under windows though

The PC version of the CT800 takes 1:16 minutes (115 million nodes) to find it - but that's because it extends checks only if they occur during the last three half-moves of a tree. Always extending solves this position easily, but would blow up the search trees during ordinary middle games on my target hardware. In mate solver mode, however, the same PC version takes only 200 ms (18 kilonodes).

Houdini 5 normal or Komodo 9 solve it also very quickly on my machine.

But simpler than a #9 could (?) be a #8:

[d]rnbq3r/pppp4/3b1pkp/5p2/2BP4/4P3/PPP2PPP/RN1QK2R w KQ - 0 9
Try that with Stockfish
