Chessprogramming Wiki Closing Down

Post by jordanbray »

I didn't see a post on here yet, but I just noticed a banner at the top of the chessprogramming wiki that states that wikispaces is closing down. Has there been any discussions about where to host this in the future? It would be a shame for us to lose this resource due to wikispaces closing down, and the chess programming community not having a backup source somewhere.

If no discussions have happened yet, I may recommend a github page to utilize their wiki function, or some other source for posting the wiki.

It appears we only have until July 31st to handle this. If there is a wikispaces "Organizer" on here, you can export the wiki here: http://helpcenter.wikispaces.com/custom ... free-wikis. If possible, it may be worth hosting the blob they generate, then we can find an alternative place to host it.

There is this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=66573

I have no idea why the search function refuses to find it.
(In the end I searched for posts by Gerd Isenberg, which did the trick.)

Thanks. I just bumped the old thread, which I feel kinda bad about, but it's an important issue to me. Thanks for the link.

The current situation regarding search is incredibly bad. Yesterday I tried to search for this topic as well. Even with a very simple keyword like "wiki", almost all results were from 2012 and older. Something is really wrong with the search.
