How to play vs LCZero with Cute Chess gui

Post by Hai »

Can someone create a youtube video how to do it?
I tried it 10 hours but failed. Somehow Zero doesn't work with cute chess gui.
Also at least 20 other guys that I know failed too.

It's very easy. The instructions is for Windows but i guess on linux is about the same:

First download lc0 cpu-win or gpu-win from here: https://github.com/glinscott/leela-chess/releases
Extract them into a directory let's say C:\program\lc0
Download a network from here: http://lczero.org/networks
Extract it and then put it in C:\program\lc0
Copy somewhere the name. Because it is too long you can rename it to something shorter like e.g qwerty77

On CuteChess interface choose TOOLS->SETTINGS->ENGINES
Press + and then put:
NAME: write any name you want
COMMAND: lczero.exe -w qwerty77
WORKING DIRECTORY: Choose the path C:\program\lc0
Press OK

It should work.
(in the command don't forget to add lczero.exe before the -w qwerty77 command.)
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

Thx that was great, it looks like uci engine is created.

But how exactly I can start to play against Zero?

And how exactly I can use it in infinite mode for analysis?

LC0 doesn't have uci stop support yet, so it can't do infinite analysis.

Well you said you have already installed it. Then you start as usual.
Or do you mean you don't know how to use cutechess?

You should investigate the menus, they're like everyone else, anyway:
Game-New- in the pop-up window

Okay thanks, now it works.

One more question, how can I use ponder on with LC0?

For example when I use "thinking on opponents time" then every normal engine is pondering but LC0 (gpu version) is not pondering.
