If you like to analyze chess positions, and you give more than a few seconds of time, then Houdini is a must have.

For tactical positions, it simply is the best.

There are some experiments in the Rybka forum showing Houdini's prowess.

I only wish there were a Linux version.
I have not tried Houdini 6, but Houdini 5 works well for me in Ubuntu (Mint) via Wine.
My Linux machines are all NUMA at home. I read that there were problems configuring Houdini for NUMA on Linux.

Besides, I want no taste of Windows on my Linux systems. It's time for me to make a clean break. All my new systems will be some form of Linux (Last one was Ubuntu, the one I just bought will be Centos).

I have thought about Mint. I might try some others.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Stockfish is drawing the weaker engines to much. It looks like there will be a new TCEC Champion this year.

That's quite possibly true. I doubt that Stockfish will get the needed full points in the last 4 matches.

But its performance was far from disappointing in my opinion. Let's see if it stays undefeated.

And although I like SF the most, a Komodo - Houdini Superfinal will be interesting nevertheless.

Perhaps you play even faster than 40 moves in 4 minutes? Or it could also be a configuration issue
No Configuration issues.
Yes, much faster, 4'+2" or 12'+1" Matches, that is, Blitz or Rapid.

I watched stockfish 8 vs stockfish 8 on my S7 edge handphone very often and noticed that Stockfish drew a lot of games with threefold repetition. May be a little bit randomness ( let say within 0.05 evaluation) might help to improve stockfish.

Also, a very nice showing by Fire 6.2 in Stage 2, the only other engine to finish above 50% in Stage 2 besides the Big 3.

So I was right to hope for a Houdini / Komodo final this time. Now I would bet than Houdini is the slighty favorite here and says he will win with 52%.
I think contempt helped Komodo a lot but might be a little less strong in head to head, even if Houdini is not update. But I might be wrong if the next Komodo has won some more elo.

They announced a Houdini update in chat.
