Andscacs new PH feature: first impressions

Post by Rodolfo Leoni »

First, I wish to thank HGM for sharing his technical solution about making hashes persistent. Without his contribution, I think Daniel wouldn't have made this change for a while.

Scores propagates fine enough, and all seems to work. It promises to become a great tool for all those that like to analyze positions by making moves, trying variations, take back moves for new variations, and so on. I only tried it with 1 GB hash, I want to check how it works with little hash.

Last step, to have a state of the art work, should be to make a load/save hash option, with a hash name option. This way, one can resume the work he made any time he wants without losing all data.

Thanks Daniel !!! :)

With 2 MB hash it happens moves and scores often get lost. But with 32 MB hash it works fine, both for this Andscacs version and your modified Stockfish version!
