Hi Alex,

good that you read it.

If you offer an update ...
It would be great to have it with version 6.2.

If you fixed that with a newer version 6.3 with other changes maybe you do I have to restart the complete analysis 15 days still running.

So my wish if possible ...
To have it in version 6.2.

Thanks and Best
Frank

Second problem I have with Booot analysis under Shredder GUI ...
Booot need two-three seconds before the analyses started:

Have a look here (acs):

I will release 6.3 version soon so i will revisit this code in new version.
Also i will check the other stuff connected with FEN and analysis.

Hi Alex,

OK, more interesting for the others (directly a new Booot version).
In this case I will restart with Booot 6.3 ... your engine is to interesting for opening analyzes and I will have it in my FEOBOS project as event.

Thanks for your Support Alex!

Best
Frank

PS: Not sure if your read my last message (I edit the message you answered more times). I wrote a bit to a second problem ... 2-3 seconds lost before Booot starts the analyzes.

Sorry for the long thread here!

The UCI command parser in Booot expects a space after the 'moves' key word in the 'position .. moves' command.
When removing the spaces after 'moves ' epds from S12 are parsed correctly.
Changing

Code: Select all

  if pos('position',s)=1 then
    begin                                                                        //Position
      fen:=StartPositionFen;
      n := pos('moves ',s);
to

Code: Select all

  if pos('position',s)=1 then
    begin                                                                        //Position
      fen:=StartPositionFen;
      n := pos('moves',s);
fixed the issue.

I've converted the the Delphi pascal source code to FPC (Free Pascal) pascal code using Lazarus.
You can find the converted sources and exe created by FPC in the 7z-archive: https://3.sharebylink.com/1/?iEueprSNk4yj

The executable is called MBooot62_64.exe, in which
- the assembler code has been replaced by FPC intrinsics
- few compiler warnings/errors have been fixed
- above fix is applied
This should run on windows x64 systems.

Maarten,

I have to check that on weekend.
No interest to lost 15 days analyze time for my FEOBOS project.

Thanks for the moment!!

Hi Maarten,

it works (tested with the three problematic positions in one epd database).
Have many thanks!

Really great because I don't lost 15 days analyze time.
After the still running Texel analyses I can restart Booot for the last around 10.000 of 26.146 positions.

That was a big help for me.

Hi Frank,

Glad to hear the fix is working!
Please note that MBooot6.2 is not 100% functional equivalent to Booot6.2, since I had to make an adjustment in the code related to the initialization of the bitboards in order to compile using FreePascal. I do not have a Delphi compiler.
My testing of MBooot6.2 against Booot6.2 shows that there is no significant elo difference, although search result on individual positions may differ.

For example: First position from arasan19b.epd
r1bq1r1k/p1pnbpp1/1p2p3/6p1/3PB3/5N2/PPPQ1PPP/2KR3R w - - bm g4; id "arasan19.1"; c0 "J. Polgar-Berkes, Budapest Hunguest Hotels 2003";
which is solved faster by MBooot than Booot.

Note the main line is different. MBooot is a slightly different engine than Booot. If you really want to have Booot62 to analyze your positions you have to wait for the fix by Alex.

Re: For FEOBOS all engines are building a strong team!

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi Maarten,

all is fine!

For opening book analyses not important to use Booot 6.2 or 6.3. Most important is the style the engine have to find maybe bad move the others not seen. And Booot have a great style for the beginning of the game ... one of my defense players because very sure ... BOATENG if you compare with the German football team or Petrosjan if you compare with chess players.

Example:
If a new version 50 Elo stronger as the predecessor ...

Average after FCP Rating List stats from all updates I tested in three years ...

5 Elo in openings.
10-15 Elo in middlegame
25-30 Elo in transposition into endgame
5 Elo in endgame

All this isn't important here!

Again ...
More important are the different styles engines have. I think I found here with the 10 main engines I am using for the FEOBOS analyses a good combination. With other words ... 10 engines build a team and each of the team players are important for the strong book I try to build with FEOBOS.

Klaus with the Excel file is the Goalkeeper ...
Three defense players.
A big midfield with 5 players ...
Two engines in forward line

I am more or less with my settings the trainer.

Means a team ...
And with your compiled version the style of the engine Booot isn't changed. You are more the team doctor and made Booot again physically fit. Not more not less.

:-)

So ... all is good for myself!
