Hi Werner,

the same I have as Winboard version in Zarkov download file on my webpage. In times the MCS Version are available we played with Christian Koch and Kai Skibbe the first winboard tourneys and created the first rating list about it.

Same with Nimzo 2000a ... with an other name available as Chessbase engine, ... tested in our first Winboard Rating List. Long years before CCRL or CEGT started.

Information about the first Winboard Rating List are today available in ELOstat readme. With the results the ELOstat programmer got material for testing first ELOstat versions.

And yes, Zarkov and Crafty at this time around with the same level in our Winboard tourneys. WB Nimzo a bit stronger, the strongest are WB Shredder 3. Most interesting are Gromit and Phalanx (most impressive style). Zarkov are at this time (same today) strong in human style. More the program like to play at first engine I know ... chess with strategic ideas. But Zarkov need many time for it. Can be see in LTE II or the older BT test. Very compliacted positions at this time Zarkov are able to solve ... but Need often more hours on my older AMD K6 II 200 or 350 MHz systems.



The old MCS protocol isn't very interesting.
Only the older Genius versions and of course the strong and interesting WChess version. Not sure, but I believe WChess is today as Winboard engines available? I know for years the trick to config MCS WChess as WB engine under WB GUI. But today I had forgotten ... same for Shredder 3. The secret parameter I had forgotten ...

PS:
I discuss in start times of CEGT with Heinz van Kempen ... which Zarkov versions should be added. I gave him the mail address from John and the tipp that he should test the 4.5e (much more interesting as the MCS version). Not sure, but I believe Heinz tested both versions.

WB Zarkov 4.5e is around from the same time with a much more interesting style.

Why using wb2uci at all under Arena (or any program which knows xboard)?

Hi Guenther,

a long time I do nothing with Arena. But Arena don't need any of adpaters after the test I made in the past with available engines, Zarkov 4.5e too. OK, I made no test with a current Arena version.

What problem do you experience? Under WB it behaves as it should.
Using it as xboard under Arena should behave the same.
