Mac binary of pulsar2009-b chess variants program released

Post by adams161 »

I released a Mac binary of my pulsar2009-b program that plays variants such as Crazyhouse, Atomic, Losers, Giveaway, Atomic and Three Checks as well as chess. It's found toward top of Pulsar page at http://www.lanternchess.com/pulsar/ under same free license.

I've been running it with Mac XBoard on my threechecksbot computer account on chessclub.com last few days and it's working well. It's a Winboard Protocol engine.

As some know, I've developed a Java interface to Chessclub.com, at http://www.lanternchess.com and on Mac the Pulsar binary can be opened and used in Lantern Chess for analysis in variants in ICC examine mode in the Options menu / Load Winboard Engine.

Pulsar has also been since 2014 an iOS app called PulsarChess in the App store and works on both phones and tablets. Difficulty level can be more easily set in the iOS app but the same program arguments to control difficulty should work with the Mac binary as well. The iOS app offers Crazyhouse, Chess, Atomic and Loser's full access for free.

Linux binary of pulsar2009-b also now released at same link http://www.lanternchess.com/pulsar/

The mac code which is basically the windows from 2009 but there's always a few edits for linux, works on both linux and mac so compiled a linux 64 bit binary on an old copy of Linux Mint I have on my laptop using gcc with -O3 optimization. Haven't been able to test other than its identical to the mac code that worked fine and it runs in the console.
