Re: CEGT - rating lists November 13th 2016
in this list: http://www.husvankempen.de/nunn/40_40%2 ... liste.html
Several strong programs appear twice: e.g. Stockfish 8/7 Houdini 5/4 Deep Shredder 13/12, Arasan 19.2/19.1.
I believed only a single version was allowed in this rating list.

I normally clear the list one week later as I do not know the results of new engines before. And Deep Shredder 12 is the reference at the moment, so I will not delete this entry.

It means single cpu versions, at least the link which leads to it is named 'best single version' and one only sees 1 cpu tested programs.abulmo wrote:in this list: http://www.husvankempen.de/nunn/40_40%2 ... liste.html

I agree though that the naming is a bit missleading, especially as there seems to be no list, which shows just one best version for each program.
('Best versions only' also means something different than expected)

Hi Guenther,
I am sorry - I must agree. The lists are started long before I joined the group. I have a look at All Versions and Best Single Versions for 40/20 - the other 2 lists are not edited (our Admin has no automatic program to make these lists out the the whole database - he has to clean the list with a file which exclude wrong names). At the moment I think he has no time (or pleasure ?) to clean the last lists too.
But I think our Blitz lists are correct.

After 1200 games the performance of Stockfish 8 (1 core) is incredible.
+116 elo increase according to Stockfish 7 (1 core).
I think Stockfish (4 core) elo will be ~3450

The elo of Stockfish 8 (1core) is 3357
The elo of Deep Fritz 10.1(1 core) is 2656
The elo difference is 701!
In 2006 Deep Fritz 10 beat WCC Kramnik with a score of 4-2.

I think Stockfish 8 would easily beat Magnus Carlsen with a score of 10-0 (with a strong hardware and good opening book)

The relevant question is what hardware Deep Fritz 10 used in the Kramnik match. [What cpu speed and how many cores?] Then we can draw better conclusions on whether CEGT is under-rating its engines relative to humans.mehmet karaman wrote:The elo of Stockfish 8 (1core) is 3357

Deep Fritz had played with Dual Intel Xeon 5160 (2 core, 3 Ghz) and it had calculated around eight million positions per second
4 core i7 cpu (2,4 ghz or more) calculates more than 10 million positions per second.

It's very soon the 10th anniversary of this memorable match, the 1st time a PC beat a reigning world champion in a serious match !mehmet karaman wrote:carldaman wrote:The relevant question is what hardware Deep Fritz 10 used in the Kramnik match.
