Steven Edwards RIP...

Post by Steve Maughan »

I'm sad to report that someone on Facebook has posted that Steven Edwards was found deceased, in his home, three weeks ago.

He was a giant of the computer chess community:

He will be truly missed.

My condolences to all his friends and family,

Steve

I am very sorry to hear that. Not only was Steven as nice as they come, he also made chess better for all of us by standardizing PGN.

He was quite an interesting poster on Facebook, and got me interested enough to buy one of those new electronic microscopes.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

That is sad news. His father had just passed away earlier and that certainly was a painful experience for him. He posted about it here. Timothy, on CTF, already suspected that something might have happened as he had not made any posts for over a month.
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.
