Q1 news of the year indeed :D

So according Chessdom article it starts as slightly improved version 4?

It's a bit confusing. Maybe he has an improved H5 dev, but it's not stable yet so he starts with H4? (I seriously hope H4 doesn't get knocked out..!)

From the article it appears Houdini will be version 4 in stage 1, and then Houdini 5 dev from then on.

I'm very happy to hear that Houdini 5 is being worked on and a release later this year is planned. Things would be more exciting in the chess engine word if there were three giants at the top rather than just the two we have now (Stockfish and Komodo).

H4 to start with, H5 dev for the last stage(s), 56-86 games total. There's the possibility it won't even get to play, if H4 is still up for Stage 2, and doesn't qualify. Unlikely, but possible, given the low number of games. Even more unlikely, H5 dev plays Stage 2 and doesn't make the cut.

Just compare how H4 performed in the last season.

I just hope that in case H4 don't qualify it won't shut down the later development of Houdini :(

3rd place, Stage 2; 4th place Stage 3. More than enough for anything but the final.
