So we can expect some Go GUI and Engine in the near future? :P

Thanks for everything, BigLion is still one of my favourite engines.

Best wishes,
Alex

Sorry to hear this Matthias, but you must of course do what is best for you. I owe you a huge thanks for your wonderful GUI and for BigLion as well.

I hope you don't mind that I continue to use ChessGUI for my engine v engine testing (even without further support or development) because it is still my preferred GUI for this.

Did you consider allowing somebody else to continue developing ChessGUI?

All the best for your addiction free future. :)

Regards,
Graham.

Anyone may continue using it, of course.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Some time ago, I sent the source code to 2 people and never heard from them again.
They probably fainted.

Hi Graham,

anyone who has used ChessGUI without insulting me because of it, has contributed to its development. Thanks to all such users.

I did have to cope with a few angry users also. One who I recall meeting only in the german CSS forum wasted his 4 precious hours before noticing that ChessGUI was very bad.

Hello Matthias,

Thanks for your gui and the features you added - a couple at my request even.

You have already contributed quite a bit to the field.

Enjoy your retirement.

Later.

Hi Matthias,

with much blood, sweat and tears you are working on your projects. I am follow from time to time and thinking often on my good and old Arena / Winboard times.

Most important for our hobby is in my opinion "Animation". With "Animation" the others have interest to start an own work. I am working all the years with a designated target ... again ... "Animation".

I know that I start again and again with computer chess from Zero with a new idea. One time computer chess, computer chess for ever.

In your case ...
Please don't put all what you do in the garbage. Made no sense. Your work is very valuable, alone for ... animation. Means, with a good work alone you can start an animation. And definite your work are all the time not good (better as good only), your work are very strong. For a person, working most of the time alone, very very strong.

Be sure, that all others, with a bit knowledge saw that.

From my view:
Have thanks for thousands hours work you do for us. That was pure animation and within a big deal ... a big lion ... for all of us.

You don't wrote ChessGUI, you wrote an important piece of the puzzle "Computer Chess" with ChessGUI.

Best
Frank

ChessGUI was great, and it supported 10x8 Chess as well. It will be sorely missed by its friends, now it died.

Fortunately the dead will not always stay dead, around this time of year. Sometimes they miraculously resurrect, after 4 days. Let's hope and pray this will happen here too!

Shortly,

I am using ChessGUI on my Notebook not for my FCP Rating List. The reason is very easy. A long time I am working with many energy on Arena. Since I gave up this work I lost my interest to find out interesting GUI options and search my luck again in engine-engine matches. Here I am using Shredder GUI because I know this easy GUI very good.

Means ...
If I using ChessGUI I have again Arena in my brain and I try to avoid that. Because ChessGUI is to compare with Arena ... thausends of hours hard work ... many years hard work.

If I can have it ...
Please send me your latest Chess GUI version if you like. I will try it again without to thinking on Arena.

Hope you can understand what I wrote here ...
I like ChessGUI a lot but I must thinking on Arena times and that isn't good for me ... or I lost directly my complete interest on computer chess.

I will start a new opening book project later this year. So, I should try that under ChessGUI ... an opening book have nothing to do with GUI development.

Best
Frank

HGM,

you surely know that you are quoting from the Bible; Revelation 11:7-11
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.
