A Damiano's mate between players of more than 2500 Elo! It is not a novelty at all, as you know:

It is a good position for sure! Even at this position:

[d]q1r1k2r/1b3pp1/p3p3/P1b5/1pN1P2p/3BBPn1/1P2Q1PP/R4R1K w k - 4 22

It is not often seen a jump in eval of more than 14 pawns after one full ply (with depth > 20) and even less in a real game... I mean, not a composition problem:

Code: Select all

FEN: q1r1k2r/1b3pp1/p3p3/P1b5/1pN1P2p/3BBPn1/1P2Q1PP/R4R1K w k - 3 3

Chest 5.2 has not found any checkmate in 14 moves or less in a search in special mode (not normal mode). I interrupted the search in 15 after 55 minutes of analysis:

Code: Select all

It seems that Chest disagrees with the claim of checkmate in 12 moves given by Stockfish_15090721_x64_modern in one of your posts. I recall that the search was done in special mode, not in normal mode.
