Never in around 210.000 45-minute games I saw such a fast mate. Directly the first move after the opening line. Really a bigger mistake by Rhetoric. Game is replayed, line isn't good I think and delete it from my book.

It wasn't the opening, which looked OK for the first few moves. It was the play AFTER the opening. Early queen sorties often end up like this.

Luckily iCE was on the right side of the match. It realized that it can play 13. Bxb5 as it knew that 13... Qxh1 is losing.
iCE did obviously not prune the line with the rook sacrifice as much as Rhetoric and here it helped a bit.
Thanks for posting the game ! As programmer I really look far to seldom at the games that my engine plays. Most of the time I only look at stats.

Hi Bob,
OK, in this case the record is ministerial / official.
I will add the game in the databae, replaced game will be deleted.
So ICE hold the record ... 4 moves better as Spark and Protector with mate in 25 moves (record before).
Best
Frank
PS: I like such games ... the reason that I am a big fan from Spark. ICE are very strong after opening book moves too.

Hi Thomas,
OK, I added the game in the database (I analyze a bit and I am thinking too that this is not a bad line).
In this case you hold the record with 21 moves and your engine will get the flag for the fastest game. Not easy to beat 21 moves for all the others in the next years I believe. In the night I will update my site. New round Robin started in the morning.
And to the games ...
Can be download on my site with eval to each game.
I am sure you will like the database!
Best

12) ... b5?? was the howler. All engines say 12)...0-0 instead and white has slight advantage but black is still good.

I haven't analyzed the game, but it looks like a horizont effect due to the forward pruning. I have seen other positions where rhetoric suffers from this effect, and also Stockfish. The only difference is that Stockfish goes deeper faster than Rhetoric and is able to detect a hidden threat with a sacrifice, but the problem is still there. We have to prune somewhere.
As Thomas said... iCE was playing at the right side. Note that white king was exposed, and this is something that Rhetoric considers a big danger.
A game very well played by iCE.
