First prize for studies in Šachová skladba 2011-12.

Post by Ajedrecista »

Hello to everybody:

I found a very interesting endgame study just by chance: the first prize for studies in Šachová skladba 2011-12 (by Ladislav Salai Jr.). Here are the links I followed:

EVComp News
The John and Sue Beasley WebSite
Orthodox chess endgame studies (John)

A classic modern endgame study

The last link contains the study itself. Starting position of the study:

[d]4K1k1/8/1p5p/1Pp3b1/8/1P3P2/P1B2P2/8 w - -

Is there any engine that gives the correct line AND also gives a winning score? It is the same for me if Multi-PV is on or off. The closest I came was with Houdini: it saw the correct line but only showed a +0.50 eval at depth 25 or so, ranking 8th out of the 12 possible moves.

I am also curious about the eval of the position after 11.- f3. Possibly a checkmate in slightly less than 20 moves just toying a little with Houdini.

Who said than opposite coloured bishops endings were boring and drawish? :P

Regards from Spain.
