Komodo TCEC released.

Post by lkaufman »

Komodo TCEC has been released. Pricing is $49.95 for those who didn't purchase Komodo 6, $29.97 for those who did. Order from the Komodo chess website:http://komodochess.com/
This version, with appropriate settings, is identical to the one which won the TCEC tournament, and is the final version of the late Don Dailey, to whom this release is dedicated. His widow will share in the proceeds.

Hi Larry, What values are recommended for King Multiplier in a 40 in 5 minutes tournament, with 2 cores and 512MB hash?

Were the defaults used during TCEC? (since that certainly was not bullet chess!)

TIA

5. The King Table Multiplier (ktabm) parameters are what we believe to be best

for bullet chess, but it is possible that other values might work better in

longer games.

It is not obvious whether higher or lower values would be better for long time control games, and we don't have enough computing resources to find the answer as it would take thousands of games. We used defaults for this in TCEC. Anyone testing alternate ktabm values at longer-than-blitz time controls is invited to post results here.

Thanks for the quick reply, it was the "bullet chess" comment that made me think this might need adjusting.

Since the defaults were used for TCEC, I will leave it as is for now. Maybe down the line I can experiment, and report results.

Again, congrats to Team Komodo.

Looking forward to testing this new Komodo. Exciting times in computer chess. 8-)
