YChess 1.0 = around 2575 ELO CCRL (4/40)

Post by Sylwy »

Hello CCC !

These days I tested a lot of this Austrian chess engine (native protocol) on its own nice and functional GUI. Seems to be a 2575 ELO (CCRL-4/40). A ten years old engine !!!
A superb play. Nothing similar with the plethora of clones from our days acclaimed by brainwashed computer chess aficionados ! :lol:

Below are two captures:
-a nice victory versus TRACE 1.37a (2507 ELO CCRL-4/40);
-a superb draw versus Colossus 2008b (2644 ELO CCRL-4/40).

Have - you all - a superb Sunday !

Seems Mr. Vadim is at the end of his inspiration with the modifications in DNA-RNA structure of Ippo-Robbo-Ivan !
Below are the results of two tests of his last two masterpieces: Gull 2.1 & Gull 2.2.
Maybe a telescope ?

SilvianR :wink:

Conditions:

TC=4'+2"
Hash=128MB
Book=Shredder12.ctg
CPU=Athlon 64 3800+
GUI=Fritz 11

Deep Rybka 4.1 was linked to Nalimov TBS.

Many years ago I remember I wrote a report full of praise about this engine in the site of those years, but nobody took attention. I was them, as I am now, NOT an authority in these things.
As always, I suffer the Cassandra problem, Any antiquarian or classicist here will understand what I mean...

Hi Ruxy, I'd meant to ask you -- how were you able to load other engines into the YCHESS GUI? I might be doing something wrong, but somehow I see no such option :?

Thanks,
CL

Hello Carl !

Important - for this task - are a subfolder (Engines) and a file (engines.ini) - both being in the installation folder.

A.-in the subfolder Engines:
1.- make subfolders (UCI1, UCI2....UCIn) containing all files for every UCI engine you want to install;
2.-make subfolders (XBoard1,XBoard2.......XBoardn) containing all files for every XBoard (Winboard) engine you want to install;

B.-edit the engines.ini file like below (an example with an UCI engine and a XBoard engine):

Image

C.-on YChess GUI go in Options(menu)/Engines and you will be able to see and select all engines you want, to change the colours, to edit the configurations.........
D.-before the point C. go in File(menu)/Common Engine Settings and disable Size Automatically for the main hash and Nalimov hash and write your settings. Set also the Nalimov path.
E.-in Options (menu)/Playing level set the time control;
F.-Move (menu)/Demo and the mach runs.

YChess is a trial version (it has all features but only for 30 days). After 30 days delete - please- the installation with Revo Uninstaller (Advanced option) and be attentif what files it delete ! :wink: The continuation is easy ! No crack, of course ! We are (all :wink: ) serious men !

At the end, excuse me -please - my poor English. I know only some words coming from Playboy (US edition) and no grammar. Maybe a day (only MAYBE) I will learn a bit more; but that's not sure ! :wink:

Have a nice day, Carl !

Thanks, Ruxy - it worked as you described. :) (your English is ok, no worries)

I've noticed that sometimes YChess will use less memory than allocated. Also, its results are not as impressive as the ones you got. I'd only estimate it around 2200-2300 ccrl, based on a handful of games, so it's a very crude "guestimate" for now.

Cheers,

Hello Carl !

1.-YChess has its own endgame tablebases. When plays a moves from egtbs YChess uses less memory.
2.-Usually YChess likes big amount of memory. Let, please, in Common Engine Settings 256 MB like shared memory (close Size Automatically option) and 64 MB like egtbs shared cache (close also the SAutomatically option).These are my settings for 4'+2" TC games. With these settings you will obtain simply amazing results (under 2500 ELO CCRL no one single engine is able to beat YC in a match).

Best to you !
