TalkChess : Logo for fun

Post by Tennison »

I just try to make 2 quick logos for TalkChess ... (I'm not good for doing this, it's just for fun)

What do you think about these ?

If they are ugly : say it !
If you like : say it !
If you don't want to see them anymore ; say it !
Whatever you want : say it !

Thanks ...

In a critique of logos, I would consider myself one of the best. They are both, to be honest, very, very nice and well done. I would- ever so very slightly- lean toward the second one. But it is an extremely close call. Well done- one cannot go wrong with either.

All the best,

I like the first one - maybe little changes: T and K larger, A and L smaller

First letter chess uppercase

Like this

You can it surely much better.

first logos is nice but let me give you an idea to improve it; do as if each letter is sitted in a chair around a round table, as in talk.

I like the colors but I do not like the logos. Sorry.
Both do not invoke any association of chess or talk in me.
Disclaimer: I am not a designer or layouter or any graphic professional.

1) Why are the 4 squares not the same size and why are they not aligned?
The uppercase letters of TALK and the lowercse letters of chess have no connection.
The TALK letters do not talk or have any symbolism of talk and communication.
There is nearly no symbolism of chess or computers.
The stream of (chess) sqares to the right is not properly aligned at the right side.
That is not a good chessboard symbol.

2) What do you want to say with the rainbow color stripes?
There is "Talk" but who or what is "hess"?
For me the C was hard to find and to associate to hess.
There is no symbolism of talk, communication, computers or chess.

Perhaps my phantasy is too simple or childish but you could use
simple pawn symbols (in colors) instead of squares placed around or
on a chessboard (b/w background).
Or chess symbols associated with a structure that looks like a forum thread,
flat view or thread view.
Or two pawns (cones with sphere heads) shouting against each other over a chessboard.

I could not do it better myself.
