Myrddin 0.86 release

Post by JVMerlino »

Well, the Mayan apocalypse must have happened because there's a new release of Myrddin, version 0.86.

Dann Corbit deserves all the credit for making this release possible. My code was apparently 98% of the way there, but I had lost interest. Dann took it the rest of the way, and our testing (confirmed by a third tester) shows an increase of about 130 ELO over version 0.85.

You can download the full package, including opening book and updated ReadMe, from Myrddin's host site (graciously provided by Ron Murawski) at:
http://computer-chess.org/doku.php?id=c ... ddin:index

Or, if you have gotten a version of Myrddin before, you can download just the new executables from Jim Ablett's site (thanks, Jim!) at:
http://jim-ablett.co.de/

Thanks again to Dann and all who have helped Myrddin get to this point.

Re: Myrddin 0.86 release (now with Linux and Android!)

Post by JVMerlino »

I just heard from Jim, who took the liberty of porting the source to Linux-gcc. He has very generously made available Linux 64/32-bit and Android builds here:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5047625/myrddi ... ndroid.zip

His comment, which fairly shocked me:

"I tested the Android compile on my little tablet in 'Chess For Android' gui by Aart Bik against my new Toga compile and it was pretty even. Seems strong on the Android platform."

So, for those of you who can take advantage of this, enjoy! And thanks again, Jim!

Re: Myrddin 0.86 release (and now Mac!)

Lots of help from the CC community these days! I wonder why....? :)

Julien Marcel has generously compiled a Mac version, so you can now get Windows, Linux, Mac and Android all in one package (which was put together by Ron Murawski) on Myrddin's official site.

Pretty amazing hobby in which I can break my engine, stop working on it, and then a bunch of people other people work to get it released.

Thanks to all and happy holidays!

Hi John,

It was Jim Ablett who built that package, not me.
