Toga II 2.0 release

Post by jd1 »

Dear Computer Chess Community,

This is the official release of Toga II 2.0, at the Toga Developers Discussion Board.

http://www.computerchess.info/tdbb/phpB ... hp?id=1395

This version is significantly stronger than previous Toga versions, although I will not make an estimate.

From readme.txt:

TOGA II 2.0
- This development of Toga is by Jerry Donald
- The code was based on Toga II 1.4.1SE by Fabien Letouzey, Thomas Gaksch and Chris Formula
- Thanks to Jim Ablett for the compile
- Thanks to Denis Mendoza for the compiles of many, many development versions
- Thanks to Thomas Gaksch and Fabien Letouzey for the Fruit/TogaII source code
- Thanks to Shaun Brewer for the test support

Changes:
- Futility Margin is now dependent on played move count
- Razoring full_quiescence() bounds fixed (thanks to Lucas Braesch)
- Several eval() bounds fixed
- Improved Pawn Shelter
- Improved Knight Outpost
- Improved Bishop Mobility
- New Endgame Material Adjustments
- Piece Values tweaked
- Egbb bugfix (Teemu Pudas)

The development will be continued, and in fact I already have a slightly stronger development version.

I had a free computer, so I have started a gauntlet for the CCRL 40/4.

Thank you Jerry.

I don't seem to be able to make it use bitbases though. Using them with other engines with no issues. Fritz GUI under Win 7.

Is there a particular version of a dll I need?

Thanks again,
PK

Hi Peter,

Yes, Toga uses the old egbb dll - v 2.0 or older. Upgraded is on my TODO list.

Sorry about that,
Jerry

Thanks Ingo! Butbase support is unchanged from Toga 1.4beta5c, and only works with 3-4 men bitbases. I am not at my pc at the moment but I will try to add the right dll to the package.

In the meantime, could you try it with the dll you used for 1.4beta5c and the same settings? I think it will work fine.
