ChessMaster XI : Questions

Post by gleperlier »

Hello,

What is the maximum tts (Hash size) and maximum Sel (selective search) we can set for CM XI for playing very long games like 180 minutes ?

Is there anyway to have TheKing use his tablebases using WB2UCI adapter on Chessbase GUI ? I think the response is no but if someone have found a way...

Best wishes,

Gabriel

Not sure about the maximum hash size, but will try to find out for you if somebody else can't answer.

As for selective search, how high were you thinking of going? I've seen some settings up around 28, but not sure as to the upper limit. Again, I'll try to find out.

Only way that tablebases can be used is in automatic adjudication by the GUI once a tablebase position is reached.

it's just a guess, but i think the maximum hash size is only limited by your computer memory. here is a sample Wb2uci.eng file i am using for The King 3.5 (=512 MB hash). selective search can be adjusted between 0 and 16. if you use this configuration file, you can change the values in your GUI.

Hello Gabriel !

As far as I know De Koning EDGB are used by Chessmaster GUIs ( coming from 9000) and NOT by The King engine. Any engine working on this GUI can use these TBs . But only inside Chessmaster GUI .
The King playing on Fritz , Shredder , ..... can be helped by these GUIs linked to Nalimov TBs in 3-6 men endgame mate positions.
Well , bitbases loaded into RAM ( like in Scorpio , Chiron , The Baron,Shredder , Fritz.......) used into search or Gaviota TBs used also in the search is another matter.

So , nothing to do with Wb2Uci. Like a bonus-information here : for any WinBoard chess engine (like The King) being able to access Nalimov TBs/Gaviota TBs/Scorpio bitbases....... this access is solved via the initialization file (.ini file or .cfg file, or.......) not via Wb2Uci. Wb2Uci is just a translator of the communication protocol instructions WinBoard to Unified Chess Interface !

Have a nice weekend !

Chessmaster is a weak chess engine, perhaps one of the weakest I know. I own Chessmaster 9000 and it plays terribly.

Houdini 2.0C and Deep Junior 13 are much much stronger engines than Chessmaster.

Thanks I know but we are not dealing with strength but pleasure.

Indeed - there is a place in our hobby for engines of all strengths.
