I have both the Samsung and the Iphone 4, and for me the biggest advantage of the Iphone is that I can get a case that doubles as an extra built in battery pack. When travelling, I find that the Samsung battery runs out of juice very quickly, especially if you use it for navigation and internet ... and of course chess. With the Iphone that extra juice makes such a huge difference and really the case is almost the same size as a normal protection case. I looked all over Amazon for something similar for the Samsung, but couldn't find anything that conveniently fits.

4.6 inch screen? it's ridiculous, too big, why not buying a tablet then..

I received my new 4S today. Stockfish and Tiger crush me even faster than before

But what a gorgeous device! I played with it for a few hours and can yet sum up what stroke me the most:

- it is really beautiful and looks of a very very high quality. It fits well in the hand, is quite heavy, which concur to this quality sensation. it has like a sexual touch in your hand, actually...
- when you come from an iPhone 3GS the 4S's retina display is very impressive, and just absolutely gorgeous.
- even if I'm used to the turbo speed of the A5 cpu in my iPad, having it in the iPhone is like night and day compared with the 3GS. The phone is so snappy that most of what I do looks like instantaneous.
- Siri is of course really cool, and works as well in french as in english. Sadly several services are not yet available in french and german. (Eh, this is still beta software). Apple promise them (and more) for 2012. Otherwise, everything I said was understood. Impressive.
- The phone becomes slightly warm in the hand, compared with the 3GS. Maybe because the materials are different and conduct heat better?
- all network operations are very VERY fast. Webpages load nearly instantly, and it took less than 10 minutes to restore the iPhone to my usual content (>30mn with the 3GS...).
- watching a HD movie on this baby is a real pleasure, so gorgeous and detailed the screen is!

Hopefully I'll soon bring my own contribution to chess on the iPhone........
