Arena/Interviews

Post by Michael Diosi »

Hi,

I have noticed a Russian source copying parts of the interviews from the Arena page without citing the source. So even if I had several interviews that should have been published soon on the Arena page I have decided not to publish them anymore. I will not invest time, ideas, money to not even beening cited correctly. You know whom to blame...

Hi,

Now there "Super Moderator" proves that he doesn't even know what is going on in his forum.

So as long as those ignorants aren't able to cite there will be no further
interviews on the Arena page.

By the way this "supermoderator" reminds me of a joke:

Q: Which is the biggest dwarf in the world ?
A: It is the Russian dwarf

also this is a nice one about originality:

Q: Who discovered the revoler ?
A: Revolverov

Hi there,

most of the interviews I made (around 40 in the past, 3-4 with Alexander Schmidt and yourself).

It would be great if others can asked for a further publication.

But all in all, I have no problems with it if the interviews are available on different webpages. More is better as one!

An other case is, if commercials have interest for a further publiciation. So I await money for it. This money can be used for development machines for amateur programmers. At the moment I try to create the first one for one of "ours" programmers.

If so, one of the commercials have interest (a newspaper for an example), the programmer(s) I made the interview will get a short information for an additional aggreement. I have no interest on this money and I am sure the Arena team too!

Best

Hi,

they don't ask, they don't even cite the source they just take it.

Seems to be some kind of Russian habit, this guy seems to be some limited teacher he can spot spelling errors but nothing more.

It is interesting how he says :
Oh noes! No more Arena interviews! Now the CC enthusiasts are condemned to wander listlessly "unhappy and discontented men, ever after to move through life bemused and yearning for they knew not what, like men kissed by goddesses in dreams."
but they keep copying massive information from the Arena page.
Why do they do so if it is that uninteresting ?

Hello Michael,

I understand the frustration you feel.

It does seem to be a case of the good suffering for the bad.

I found the interviews interesting and even participated in a small way in one of them - when Hiarcs went UCI.

Still it must be off-putting to just have the pages lifted wholesale.

Hi Roger,

The interview you participated was located at the Exactachess page. All other interviews that were located there (Mark Uniacke, Frank Zibi, Reinhard Scharnagl and Eiko Bleicher) which I wanted to upload at the Arena page so they remain available will not be uploaded anymore. Also the old magazine Computer Chess Compendium will remain in my private collection only.

This is not about punishing anyone but you will understand that I am not sitting here for hours, preparing the interview, translating it, uploading it to not even beeing cited correctly. No thanks !

Maybe you should wait till they are going to do anything constructive...

Hi,

I was pointed to that page and the not citing of the source. It seems that this is common sense in Russia and most Easten European countries. This explains alot about ther situation. As long as the poeple tehre find such things acceptable nothing will ever change. It is up to you to change things.

Now Arena is free but at least a liitle bit of respect for the work can be expected in asking for permission, citing the source if they use anything from the Arena page. Respect is maybe a word that doesn't exist in Russia...

I think this is Chauvinism. To make such generalizations about people of countries based on such unimportant things.
