Tournament length: 30 games (double round robin)
Openings: Randomly selected - each engine pair will play both black & white of the same opening


Time Control:
120 Minutes for the first 40 moves - 60 minutes for the next 20 moves then
15 minutes for the rest + 30 seconds added per move from move 61


Graphical User Interface:
Type: ChessGUI
Resign: +/- 5.50 eval for 3 moves in a row (both engines)
Draw: An eval of +0.05/-0.05 for 4 moves in a row (both engines - only possible after passing move 40)
If there is a pawn advance, or a capture by any kind, this draw counter will reset
Ponder: Off
Hash: Max 4096 MB per engine
Nalimov tablebases: 3-4-5 men (Rybka, Junior, Arasan)
Nalimov cache: 256 MB
Robbo Totalbases: 3-4-5-Z men (Ivanhoe)
Robbo Triplebases: 2-3-4-5-Z men (Ivanhoe)

The new Junior 12 makes its TCEC debute together with Jon Dart's
program Arasan. The latter might have a hard time against the big boys,
but so will probably Junior. At any rate, it should be very interesting!

Also for the first time in TCEC history, an engine is participating with
non-default settings, namely Rybka 4 which is using the Exp-61 settings
taken from the Rybka forum - details here.

I don't have an answer, I just don't use Fire.

And yes, Rybka 4 Exp-61 is a modified version. You can read about it on the news page of my site.

Some of those engines are avoided by some testers, but i think you are beyond those limitations, and maybe will be nice to see some of those engines at long time control in your computers.

Well, Toga has been considered several times. Don't be surprised if you
find it in one of the upcoming tournaments. Right now, I'm not planning
of including any of the other IPP family of engines.

Martin thanks for providing your time and effort for these LTC tourneys. It must be really tough trying to sort out such an elaborate setup and the level of chess at these TC and powerful hardware is mind boggling and of high interest. Unfortunately most tourneys tend to concentrate on thousands of super fast games where poor moves in time scrambles can corrupt the quality of the games. I just want you to know that your efforts and enthusiasm for computer chess is highly appreciated. With regards to adding more of the R3 or Ippolit derivatives ... I agree that you should just concentrate on the strongest one or two ... and even more than that is to concentrate on the most stable ones. Nothing is more frustrating than to have an overnight tourney hang due to an exception fault by an engine. What I would have liked to see is that maybe instead of Arsan ... maybe a stronger original engine such as Zappa Mexico II or maybe Naum 4.2 or Hiarcs 13 be included instead. Some of these oldies can still produce some gems as they have totally different evaluations which sometimes prove to be more accurate.
