Looks like Rybka is certain to beat Ivanhoe now with a 3-game lead.Martin Thoresen wrote:The match has started!

Re: TCEC Match 6 - LTC match -> Rybka vs Iva - Game comme
Rybka again as in earlier LTC match against Houdini, as for me, proves to be the better program under this (very) LTC circumstances.
I watched a lot of games and have made a report with short comments on the games till sofar (1-28) Rybka now leads with 15,5 -12,5 with 4 games left.
Martin Thoresens TCEC6 match; (very)long TC on superfast PC (Fritzmark = 39)
the programs regularly reaches depths of 20 -25 ply
40 moves in 120 min; 20 moves in 60 min; 15 min for the rest +30 sec per move
Ivanhoe B50tA 64-bit 6CPU (Iv) Rybka 4 64-bit 6CPU (R4)
kind regards, bram

Gm Programs Opening Result Report
1 Iv - DR4 E03 Catalan draw Iv wins a pawn on c5 at move 12, but R4 - after exchanging queens - equalizes easily with the bishoppair
2 DR4 -Iv E03 Catalan draw R4 as in game 1 wins a pawn on c5 at move 12. Iv didn't equalize fully, white holding a plus. After an intrigating middlegame, Iv escapes into an drawn ending with two bishops and 4 pawns against Ry with Rook an Bishop with 3 pawns
3 Iv - DR4 C89 Spanish Marshall attack draw easy draw
4 DR4 -Iv C89 Spanish Marshall attack draw easy draw
5 Iv - DR4 D34 Tarrasch Defence 0-1 very nice win for R4 with black in an opening which favors white. White couldn't get a grip or win the weak black c6-pawn while R4 managed to gradually set up a kingside attack by opening up the h-file and taking profit of the long open diagonal.
6 DR4 -Iv D34 Tarrasch Defence draw R4 couldn't create a real advantage with a free d-pawn vs doubled black c-pawns, whereafter Iv excanges queens and draws easily in double rook ending
7 Iv - DR4 E58 Nimzo Indian Rubinstein draw R4 holds the draw with excellent defense in a R + reversed color B pawn ending
8 DR4 -Iv E58 Nimzo Indian Rubinstein draw Iv holds the draw after an active opening, with sound knight pair vs white bishops
9 Iv - DR4 B01 Scandinavian draw nothing special
10 DR4 -Iv B01 Scandinavian draw nothing special
11 Iv - DR4 C79 Spanish Archangelsk 1-0 interesting sacrifice by R4 on f2 right out in the opening. Although Iv consolidates solidly and conversed his material plus into a win
12 DR4 -Iv C79 Spanish Archangelsk 1-0 another approach by Iv but not necessarily better. R4 manageed to get a firm positional hold. With two center pawns on e4 and f4 vs two black pawns on d6 and c6, blacks pieces are restrained in action and R4 slowly but gradually converted this into a winning rook ending
13 Iv - DR4 A87 Dutch defence Leningrad 1-0 nice positional win by Iv who converted his positional gain, from the opening into the middlegame, fully controlling the board and counting Ry out in the endgame
14 DR4 -Iv A87 Dutch defence Leningrad draw R4 gave a pawn for active position and chances against the black king, who landed on the strange h6 square. Although R4 gained a real plus, Iv defended creatively and this active counterplay delivered him the draw
15 Iv - DR4 C54 Giuoco Piano Italian draw original Nh5 manoevre from R4 out of the opening with black, followed by the exchange of the white coloured bishop on d5. This took out the poison of the white position. What remained was an almost equally game which R4 holded with true inhumanly accurate play
16 DR4 -Iv C54 Giuoco Piano Italian 1-0 R4 with white in same position really convincingly outplayed black. R4 while holding control of the centre R4 combined the threat over the open b-file (with his rooks) with knight and queen pressure on the black kingside. Finally Iv gave the h6 pawn after which his position collapsed
17 Iv - DR4 B12 Caro Kann advance var. 1-0 R4 exchanged his rook for a pawn and a strong black bishop on the long diagonal. The only drawback was that he still was behind in material and the position could slowly be build up by Iv forcing further exchanges and pressing R4 to play his pawns foward on the black squares. So it became a technically win.
18 DR4 -Iv B12 Caro Kann advance var. draw R4 gained nothing after the opening, while having a better chance for an advantage on move 13, if he had played Nxf5 gaining the bishoppair. After 20 moves an equal position was left
19 Iv - DR4 D48 Semi Slav Meraner var. draw very tactically piece exchange in early middlegame resulted in a clean draw position with Q + B wih reversed colours
20 DR4 -Iv D48 Semi Slav Meraner var. 1-0 Very difficult game for me as a human (1984 ELO) to explain. It looked as if R4 had nothing special but it managed to force black into a cramped semi-active position where his pieces looked active while in reality they where restrained. With both three pieces Q,R B the white bishop could force things resulting in winning a pawn.
21 Iv - DR4 A28 English four knights draw Iv had a small plus but R4 didn''t get into real trouble, The ending 2R vs Q and both 3 pawns went into a plain tablebase draw
22 DR4 -Iv A28 English four knights draw Iv again playes the position very well with strong active knights against the bishop pair of R4. Forcing a draw in 29 moves
23 Iv - DR4 E10 Blumenfeld gambit draw this game deserved a better outcome for white than the draw he gained. Although you can easily criticize his awkward move 10 Ra3, Iv played an interesting game gaining almost decisive advantage. Sacrificing the rook for a strong bishop and double pawn advance on the a and b-file it looked just a matter of time , but R4 defended well, benifiting from his bishop pair.
24 DR4 -Iv E10 Blumenfeld gambit 1-0 R4 had lesser trouble by proving this gambit unsound. Especially I liked the manoevre Kf1, h4 Rh3 Rg3 controlling the position while holding his pawn
25 Iv - DR4 A05 Birds opening draw nothing special happened although R4 manoevred into a slight plus in late middle game
26 DR4 -Iv A05 Birds opening draw solidly and actively played draw by Iv with black. R4 didn't get anything out the opening
27 Iv - DR4 A03 Reti opening 0-1 very nice win by R4 after a Reti with a closed Sicilian like position after the opening. In the crucial position at move 36 with only one pawn exchanged of the board, Iv at depth 25(!) evals with 0.00 while R4 already gives a +0,32 after his smashing knight sacrifice 37. ..Nf4! The sacrifice splintered whites position and R4 gained to many pawns for the knight sacrifice and won nicely
28 DR4 -Iv A03 Reti opening draw with reversed colors Iv didn't gain anything, R4 solidly playes to a draw

Re: TCEC Match 6 - Long TC live broadcast -> Rybka vs Iva
And so the match ends!
After looking like Ivanhoe was going to give Rybka a very hard time, the latter prevailed and thus won with 17.5 to 14.5 (+ 6 = 23 - 3).
Keep an eye on the official site for info about the next event.

Re: TCEC Match 6 - Rybka4 vs IvB50tA - GAME REPORT
Final Report on Martin Thoresens TCEC6 match; (very)long TC on superfast PC (Fritzmark = 39; Rybkabench = 1013)
the programs regularly reaches depths of 20 -25 ply
40 moves in 120 min; 20 moves in 60 min; 15 min for the rest +30 sec per move
Ivanhoe B50tA 64-bit 6CPU (Iv) Rybka 4 64-bit 6CPU (R4)
Final Result: R4 17,5 - Iv 14,5 with 6 wins against 3 losses and 23 draws. My overall impression on this match is that R4 is the better program. R4 evaluates slightly more dynamically (to the point) and in most of the drawn games R4 didn't get into real trouble. Iv had slightly more problems in the drawn games e.g. game 2 and 14. And beside that, the only black wins where for R4; with the Tarrasch and Reti opening. These wins where really impressive. Although the overall play of the programs - under this LTC on this very fast hardware - was outstanding, there still where moves to be criticized. E.g. in the Caro Kann for R4 (13. better Nxf5 ) and in the Benko for Iv (17. better Ra2)
Kind regards, Bram

28 DR4 -Iv A03 Reti opening draw with reversed colors Iv didn't gain anything, R4 solidly playes to a draw
29 Iv - DR4 A30 symmetrical English draw R4 plays a hedgehog after his 12 ..h6 ! Novelty, Iv exchanges black bishop and on move 14 wins temporarily a pawn at d6 but R4 wins back the c4 pawn two moves later. A draw position results
30 DR4 -Iv A30 symmetrical English draw A very interesting draw. R4 slowly builded up a nice position with two connected passes pawns on a6 and b5. He than sacrificed the queen for a Rook and Bishop, after which the position is especially critical for Iv with black. But Iv managed to maintain the balance after reducing the amount of white pawns to just one
31 Iv - DR4 A25 Benko gambit main line draw Iv with white playes straightforward with a quick king march to g2 and gains an advantage of nearly one pawn. The critical position is reached at move 16. R4 expected 17 Ra2 but Iv choosed 17 Bc3. A tactical exchange followed where R4 gave his Queen for a Rook and strong Bishop a little later R4 forces Iv into a Q vs double rook ending with an extra pawn for White. R4 his rooks are able to compensate for the pawn so a draw resulted
32 DR4 -Iv A25 Benko gambit main line draw R4 gained a plus of about half a pawn out of the opening. Iv exchanges queens and further on a bishop on c3 whereafter white is left worthless loose a-pawn up. A draw result is logical, but not for R4 wo tries hard to win a bishop vs knight ending, buth Iv''s knight stood straight after 100 moves a really drawn position
Final Result: R4 17,5 - Iv 14,5 with 6 wins against 3 losses and 23 draws. My overall impression on this match is that R4 is the better program. Re: TCEC Match 6 - Rybka4 vs IvB50tA - GAME REPORT
I think the black game by R4 in match 14 was the highlight of the match. At one point R4 as black played 36. ...Nf4 !!! a totally unexpected yet devastating knight sac that had serious compensation that was hard to see. Some pretty interesting games in the match overall.
