Hi,

Sjeng c't 2010 and Shredder Classic 4 full version is available on a DVD, DVD is included / essential part from a German computer magazine (not chess magazine) called c't. Very popular computer magazine in Germany with great information around IT, hardware / software ... computer topics.

c't issue 24/2010:
http://www.heise.de/ct/inhalt/2010/24/6/

- 32bit version of DeepSjeng only
- support for 1 core only
- engine is from 20.10.2010 (can see it with Total Commander and PlugIn FileInfo 2.1.0)

full version but 32bit and 1 core only!

w32 to x64 advantage for DeepSjeng WC-2008 = 24 ELO

Code: Select all

SWCR results:
43 Sjeng WC-2008 x64 2688 14 14 1680 48% 2701 36%
59 Sjeng WC-2008 w32 2664 12 12 2240 45% 2699 37%
Interview with Gian-Carlo from February 04th, 2010

Come out, Sjeng is on the way to become a giant for all other engines. You are one of the most talented programmers we can await it! Sjeng 4 will be again a new sensation? Long speech, short sense!? How many ELO points stronger is your actual development version so far?

Gian-Carlo Pascutto
I'll just say: quite a bit over 100 ELO better. I don't know the exact number as I didn't test against Deep Sjeng 3.0 for a while, but it's clear there's very substantial improvement. And if it depends on me, it will keep improving. If you have multiple computers, you can use the cluster mode, and then the improvement is pretty interesting
I await around 75 ELO more for Sjeng c't 2010 w32 if I compare with the latest available version WC-2008 x64.

Price for one issue for this computer magazine = € 3,70 in Germany!
Not sure that you can order one issue from abroad only!
Sure is, that you can make an order from abroad!

More information about possible orders are available under:
https://abo.heise.de/ct-magazin/

Help, and all this in my English / Frankish ... hope all is OK!

Best
Frank

The C't is one of the biggest computer magazins in the world actually. It is THE magazin in germany.

and scroll down completly. There is a box called "Kontakt" where you find address, telefone and -of course- an email address to contact them.

The price for the magazin is "just" 3€.70 nut question is where you live and what the price for delivery is.
Maybe GCP will offer the version (or the full Deep Sjeng 2010 ;-) )on his web site sooner or later. seeing the results I hope for it.

2774 after 1900 games, great improvement :) . But I have feeling, that 100 games matches are overkill, You don't get much benefit over 50 games?
BTW rating after only 200 games was 2767, so additional 1700 games change it only by 7 points!

Yea, the next time I try to play ONE game vs the engine with the right Elo rating and hope for a draw. The error bar is a bit higher, but at least the rating is good.
AFTER a match it is always easy to say that it hit the right already after X games, but during the run it could be as well 800 games. Unfortunately I am a quite bad "Elo prophet".
Actually, it started in the 2800 and went down in the beginning. I think it hit the 2770 after around 50 games for the first time. Maybe 50 is enough already, who knows. In between, at around 800 it was up to 279x ...
Where to stop is the question, 40, 200, 800 games ... that is why now I have an error bar of "just" 13 Elo after 2000 games.

Regarding the 50 games per engine or 100 games the above is correct too. The more the better - or you life with higher uncertainty.
