STS (v12.0) - "Center Control"

Post by swami »

Version 12 of the Strategic Test Suite series is now available for download.

* Consists of carefully selected 100 test positions on "Center Control"

Information:

Posting the piece in the center in early middle game to late middle game.

4 central squares (e4,d4,d5,e5) are the most important squares. It's obvious someone has to take control before their opponent does.

It consists of:

* Posting the piece in the center.
* Usually a Queen/Rook/Bishop/Knight.
* No pawn moves.
* Plan is to post the piece in the center and exert pressure on other side.
* Another plan is to have access to more squares on the board.

Tests engine's strength on initiative, and mobility.

Download it! here:

Test Suite release time: 15th of July, 2010

Thanks, for the interesting result. Yeah I hope those with better hardware could post their engine results.

Thanks for the test, Vlad.

It appears to be moderate in difficulty, while STS 11 was certainly bit difficult but not as much as STS 8 and 9.
