I'll take a look at some stage, but colours are not a priority with me.

But I think the memory ChessGUI eats is virtual, not physical, and thus a minor issue.

Best,
Matthias.
The last couple of versions have been much better - I'm currently half way through a 100 game match, and memory usage has grown less than before - now 115MB having started about 60-80MB ? I have plenty of RAM so it doesn't cause me any problems, but I can see that it might for some people. It is otherwise 100% stable for me and does exactly what I need it to.

I added BigLion to the FRC list by the way.... but I couldn't play enough opponents to get a good rating

I hope it is not a buggy version from long ago.
BigLion80 is much slower and useful only for 10x8 chess or for very weak 8x8.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

SzG wrote:Hi Matthias,

It seems to me that I don't understand the concept of multiple gauntlet engines.

I wanted to make 3 engines play a gauntlet against the same 4 opponents. To accomplish this I invited 7 engines for a tournament and set 'gauntlet engines' to 3 in GUI preferences. Moreover, I told the GUI to play 16 cycles with alternate colours. So I expected the total number of games to be played 3(number of gauntlet engines)*4(number of opponents)*32(number of games against each opponent)=384. However, ChessGUI told me it was going to play 480 games. That correponds to 15 pairings (480/32).

Please clarify the case for me.

Cheers,

Hi Gabor,
in gauntlet mode, each of the 3 gauntlet engines will play all other 6 engines.
What you want to do is "Team Fight" 3 against 4.
Best,
Matthias.

Hi Graham,
did you receive my email about the 400 MB ChessGUI.exe during gauntlets ?
I could not reproduce the bug :( .
Best,
Matthias.

Found and fixed in ChessGUI 0.145 !
2 windows in BigView were not being erased before each new game :( .
Thanks to Graham and Ray for noticing the memory consumption.

Matthias.

Hi Matthias,

could you please check whether or not Mediocre 0.34 works correctly under ChessGUI 0.145. Check your email for more details.

Thanks,
Graham.

Hi Matthias,

I still can't get Glass 0.1.0c working correctly. It searches to a depth of 5 whereas other engines are searching at least twice further. Any special commands I need to use?

Cheers, Graham.
