New Chess Engine - Garbochess

Post by gladius »

http://forwardcoding.com/projects/garbochess.zip. I've been puttering away on this for a few months, and I guess it's time to let it out :). It's written in C# (so you will need .NET 2.0 installed to run it), supports UCI only, and has most of the usual search/evaluation features. I've never really tested it's strength, but it's somewhat stronger than Mediocre, and significantly weaker than Fruit (the two test engines I've used). The hash size is hardcoded to a relatively small value right now, and there are no options to speak of.

Thanks Guenther and Gary. 8-)

First up - a CCRL 40/40 10 game match v Colossus 2007b to gauge its strength roughly.

Just trying to gauge the strength of GarboChess 0.21.

It lost 1-9 to Colossus 2007b and is currently losing 1-7 to DanaSah 2.44.
Gradually choosing weaker opponents. Next up will be Zeus 1.27.

1-9 and 1-7 huh :). Guess those points were draws as well. Guess those eval. weights need a little more tweaking!

See GarboChess did okay in Le Fou Nemerique uci engine league testing - roughly 2250 ELO.

Might just be a bad start in my testing.

Don't give up!

10% against Colossus isnt bad for a 2250 rated engine.
