I didn´t see any tb-access under the arena-gui for ProDeo.

That's normal, ProDeo doesn't use tablebases neither does Arena ;-)

It looks like a number of engines can select the move, but few are both finding it and returning a winning score.

Thx Günther,

did that mean, that ProDeo can find the right move only under his own gui?

Or is the trick to use a cb-gui for ProDeo?

This means that ProDeo probably never will find that move(in case
the position requires a TB search by the program), because a GUI
will only play TB positions _on board_ for the programs.
(Moreover ProDeo is not very famous for its endgame abilities at all)

What is Pro Deo's own GUI?

Anyway my Pro Deo 1.5 does also NOT find it in Chessbase and in Chesspartner GUI....
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

LokaSoft/Chesspartner GUI with which it was sold before it became freeware.

Oh, but did really Pro-Deo was sold for some time by Lokasoft? :? I don't remember....

Yes, it was sold under the name Rebel 12.

But now i am a little bit confussed about the best gui for ProDeo.

Should we use the REBEL-DOS gui to get the full strength of Ed Schröders child? I want to see this Qe1 by ProDeo, too.

Yes i'm aware of that, but Guenther said Pro Deo was sold with Lokasoft GUI.
Anyway i guess a rename(Rebel12 UCI->Pro Deo) is pointless to talk about whether ProDeo was sold by Lokasoft.... :D

Yes i want to see this move by Pro Deo too, but for the moment i can't. Arena,Chesspartner,Chessbase give no Qe1 for me.....
Perhaps Chris used some non-default settings. What can i say?

There is always a luck factor where engines will find the right move for the wrong reason. It doesn't mean a thing in such a case either, other than that the program had a bit of luck on its side, which they all will from time to time.
