Schooner solves this in 1 ply, 0.68 seconds and 1.7 million nodes. Still, there is a point to be made that millions of nodes seems large for a mate in 1, so there is a quiescence explosion. Might be worth tracing to look at the intricacies of the position.

current -dev-SF - default settings - single core was about 10K nodes.

Anecdotal but for Minic it is quite easy : 1sec, 1353 nodes, 2724979 qnodes
